If you've come across the Weger Brothers online, you've probably seen them doing something most people would consider a terrible idea—dropping into near-vertical lines, paragliding through narrow valleys, or scrambling along knife-edge ridges in some of the world's most dramatic landscapes.

But this is only part of the story. For Jakob and Matthias, adventure isn't defined by a single moment. It's shaped by everything that comes before it: the preparation, the uncertainty and the decisions that can make or break an expedition.
Starting Young
Growing up in Schenna, South Tyrol, the brothers spent more time outdoors than indoors. While other children were content with family hikes on the weekends, Jakob and Matthias were drawn to fast-moving water, steep terrain, and the challenge of mastering difficult environments.

"Already as young kids our parents had a hard time to keep us in the house," they laugh. "We always wanted to go out there to see where our limits are."
That passion first led them to elite-level kayaking, with Matthias winning three European Extreme Kayak titles and Jakob becoming U23 World Champion in canoe slalom. Eventually, they left competitive sport behind to pursue a wider range of adventures in the mountains.

"We took this training mentality to all the other sports. We tried to improve every day, and we really got into mountain sports."
Today, you'll likely find the brothers skiing, snowboarding, paragliding, or climbing, pushing their limits and sharing their experiences with an audience of more than one million followers.
Beyond the Highlight Reel
While social media undoubtedly helped build their audience, short videos only showed part of the journey. The spectacular descent or successful summit might make the final edit, but the preparation, route planning, safety decisions and setbacks were often left out. For the brothers who spent days—or sometimes weeks—working on a video, reducing an adventure to a 10-second clip never felt quite right.

That's what inspired them to create Alpine Worlds, their popular YouTube series.
"In those long formats, we can really tell the full story. From the preparation, to the hike, to the safety aspect… it was not only about the highlight of the day, which you can show in a 10-second reel."
The series takes viewers behind the scenes of their adventures, showing both the rewards and realities of operating in challenging mountain environments. Rather than focusing only on successful outcomes, the brothers aim to capture the complete experience—including the lessons learned when things don't go to plan.
Filming at the Edge
But finding new lines is only half the challenge. Capturing them in remote alpine environments can be just as demanding as the adventure itself.

"Producing those long formats in an alpine environment is really hard. And that's really where Insta360 cameras make a difference, because if you're already so much on the limit… you can't think about big cameras."
When every gram matters and conditions can change in an instant, they need a camera that can keep up. With its rugged design, compact form factor and ability to capture every angle without constant repositioning, Insta360 X5 allows the brothers to stay focused on the adventure rather than their gear.
That freedom has become an essential part of how they document their projects. Because for the Weger Brothers, the goal isn't just to reach the summit or complete the descent—it's to share the full experience with others. And despite the risks, the challenges and the countless hours in the cold behind every finished video, neither brother can imagine doing anything else.
"We figured out that this is what we love. For us, life without it would not be worth living."
