Stay connected to the Internet when using the Insta360 app (for Android devices)
When your Android device is connected to the camera via the Insta360 app, you’ll find that other apps cannot access the Internet. To solve this, you can use the Proxy Mode in the Insta360 app’s settings. With this turned on, all apps on the phone will be able to access the Internet as normal.
Turning the Proxy Mode on or off will not affect the connection between the camera and phone.
When the camera and phone are disconnected, the Proxy Mode will automatically disconnect.

  • How to turn on Proxy Mode?
This can be toggled on/off in the Insta360 app’s settings page.

  • What is a proxy?
In this situation, a proxy is like a virtual private network, created via the Internet between two devices. This enables users/devices to send and receive data as if they were directly connected on a private network. Applications within a proxy can all access the same functions and be managed as a private network. When you use a proxy, the data exchanged between devices is encrypted, making it almost impossible for anyone to access. There are several protocols used, including PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol), L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol), IPSec (Internet Protocol Security), and SSL (Secure Socket Layer).

  • What devices support this function?
    Only necessary on Android devices.
