Insta360 X5 and Insta360 Ace Pro 2 compatibility coming with visionOS 26 this fall
Insta360 today announced that video from its flagship Insta360 X5 and Insta360 Ace Pro 2 cameras will playback natively on Apple Vision Pro with the release of visionOS 26 later this year.
Creators with X5 and Ace Pro 2 will be able to easily work with 360-degree and wide field-of-view 2D video using an updated workflow with support for a new QuickTime movie profile called Apple Projected Media Profile (APMP). With visionOS 26, Vision Pro users will enjoy exciting 2D action footage the way it was meant to be experienced.
“Apple’s support for native playback of 360-degree and wide field-of-view video on Apple Vision Pro is a game changer that brings immersive storytelling full circle,” said Max Richter, VP of Marketing at Insta360. “Soon, with visionOS 26, you’ll be able to relive these awesome moments from Insta360 X5 and Ace Pro 2 like you’re there all over again.”
This announcement is the latest example of the collaboration between Apple and Insta360 to deliver exciting experiences for users and creators. In 2018, Insta360 became the first 360 camera in Apple Stores. More recently, Insta360 launched Flow 2 Pro with support for DockKit.
