Turns out you don’t need a DeLorean to go back to the future... sometimes all it takes is an Insta360.
Back in February 2025, Matt headed out to Eindhoven, Netherlands, with a big crew of friends for Winterclash—the three-day inline skating extravaganza that takes over Area 51 Skatepark every year. For anyone in the scene, Winterclash isn’t just a competition; it’s the World Cup of inline skating. AKA, a pretty big deal.
One morning, before the arena even opened, Matt and a few friends decided to take advantage of the surprisingly mild weather and hit the streets. Eindhoven, unlike most UK cities, feels almost like it was designed for skaters. Wide plazas, ledges that seem purpose-built, and, most importantly, an attitude that doesn’t chase you off before you can even roll out.
Matt’s long-time friend David was busy collecting clips for a sponsored video, and as usual, Matt took on his unofficial role as “the camera guy.” Armed with his Insta360 X4, he captured everything from technical grinds to wide, cinematic street shots that made the city itself feel like a playground.
After wrapping up, Matt and David strolled back toward Area 51, still buzzing from the session. Somewhere between tired legs and the smell of street food, the two started joking about getting older. How long could they keep doing this? Would they still be skating, flying to events, and filming edits in their fifties? Their sixties? They laughed, half-serious, half-terrified by the thought.
A week later, Matt sat at his computer editing the footage. That’s when he noticed something strange. In the background of one of the shots, an older man strolled into frame. The kicker? He looked exactly like Matt—same clothes, same walk, just twenty years older. And the timing couldn’t have been weirder: the guy appeared right before Matt and David had their heart-to-heart.
Matt sat back in his chair, staring at the screen. Was this just a funny coincidence? Or had his Insta360 X4 managed to catch a glimpse of “Future Matt,” quietly checking in from 2045 to let him know it was all going to be okay?
Either way, the footage was gold. Proof that with the right camera, you don’t just capture the tricks, you might just catch a glitch in the space-time continuum.
