International Go Skate Day: Let’s Do This!

As fans of all things action, June 21 is an important date in the Insta360 calendar: Go Skate Day. Skateboarders around the world will be marking the day in a variety of ways, but above all, it’s about encouraging people to get out on their boards and skate!

To show some love for Go Skate Day, we put together this video featuring a few adventure-chasing legends and their favorite skate cameras. Featuring pro skaters Elliot Sloan and Beaver Fleming, plus wheelchair skateboarder Evan Lalanne.

How to get involved with Go Skate Day?

Of course, you don’t have to be a pro skater to join in! Go Skate Day is for everyone, no matter your ability or experience. Here are a few ideas for how you can mark the day:

  • Head to a local skatepark
  • Go for a cruise around the neighborhood
  • Teach someone to skateboard
  • Attend a skateboarding competition
  • Watch a documentary, or a bunch of skateboarding videos on YouTube

Whatever you choose to do, don’t forget people all over the world will be out doing their thing too. Connect with your fellow skateboarders by posting on social media using #GoSkateboardingDay. Let people know how you’re marking the day, or better yet, show them!

How about a skate camera?

Of course, if you are heading out on the board, you’re gonna need a decent skate camera to film the action (or at least the falls)!

For awesome 360° shooting, you’ve got Insta360 ONE X2. Being able to reframe your shots means you can focus on skating, then choose your shot later in the app. There’s also a Skate Bundle available with a bunch of different mounts to nail those killer shots!

After a different perspective? Check out Insta360 GO 2, a tiny action cam that is great for capturing POV shots. Mount it anywhere on your body or board for epic angles of your skateboarding adventures.

Crucial for ensuring you end up with smooth skateboarding footage is Insta360’s FlowState Stabilization, as well as the horizon leveling algorithm: Horizon Lock. Together, these guarantee stabilized, upright shots, no matter how bumpy the ride!

A final dose of inspiration

If you enjoyed our Go Skateboarding Day video, check out this interview with Evan Lalanne, the insanely talented wheelchair skateboarder featured in the video. That should be all the inspiration you need to get out on the board and enjoy the day!
